Child Safety and Wellbeing
Effective 14 October 2026
Edexia is committed to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every child and young person who uses our products or interacts with our people.
We put children's safety at the centre of our decisions. We do not tolerate child abuse, harm, exploitation, discrimination or conduct that puts a child at risk. We listen to children and take their views and concerns seriously. We aim to make our online environment safe, inclusive and accessible, and to uphold the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
Our commitment
Everyone who works for or with Edexia shares responsibility for preventing harm, following our child-safety requirements and reporting concerns. We respond promptly, respectfully and in a child-focused way. We cooperate with schools, families and relevant authorities.
Edexia applies the Universal Principle and the 10 Queensland Child Safe Standards across our product, support channels, school visits, demonstrations, research, events and other activities involving or affecting people under 18.
Safety in the Edexia product
Students use Edexia in a school-managed learning environment. Where students use Edexia's AI tutor, their teacher can review the conversation and add feedback. The tutor cannot write directly into a student's response. Its compulsory instructions prohibit full drafts, quotes and grading, and direct wellbeing concerns to a trusted adult.
These controls reduce risk but do not guarantee that every AI response is safe or correct. Edexia does not continuously monitor every conversation. We therefore use product, people and process controls together, maintain clear reporting routes and review risks when the service changes.
What children can expect
- To be treated fairly, respectfully and without discrimination.
- To be told, in language they can understand, how Edexia works and who can see their information.
- To raise a concern or ask a teacher, parent, carer or another trusted adult for help.
- To have a genuine concern taken seriously without retaliation.
- To receive a response that considers their age, disability, language, culture, family circumstances and other needs.
- To have their information shared only where needed for safety, a fair assessment or a legal obligation.
Raising a child-safety concern
Children, families, schools and community members can:
- email admin@edexia.ai with the subject Child safety concern;
- tell an Edexia worker, who must pass the concern to our Child Safety Lead; or
- ask a trusted adult, teacher, parent or carer to report on their behalf.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 000 before using Edexia's internal process.
Edexia will listen, prioritise immediate safety, preserve relevant information, consider external reporting duties and keep the person who raised the concern reasonably informed. We will not ask a child to repeat their story more than necessary.
Governance and review
Daniel Gibbon, Chief Executive Officer, is Edexia's accountable executive and interim Child Safety Lead. Priaav Salot is the deputy child-safety contact.
Edexia reviews this commitment and its supporting framework at least annually, after a material child-safety incident or complaint, after a material product or service change, and when relevant law or Queensland Family and Child Commission guidance changes.
